6 Goals I Should Focus on When Training My Child
James 1:5King James Version (KJV)
"5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."
In order to truly train your child, you must have the wisdom of God and if you don't you must ask for it. Without the leading of the Holy Spirit, your training or lack their of could hinder your child from fully walking in their intended purpose.
One of the greatest rewards and struggles in life involves rearing children. Most individuals find themselves ill equipped to do this task, due to lack of knowledge, experience and training, yet the expectation of every parent and society as a whole is to produce law abiding, productive citizens that can carry on the next generation. But how?
Proverbs 22:6 New King James Version (NKJV)
6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.
Here lies the challenge for every parent, how do you train a child to walk according to the destiny that is already laid out before them when you as a parent is unsure of what that destiny is and how to direct them down this path. Thankfully there is a training manual that has the wisdom of thousands of years of experience at your fingertips.
If you are ill equipped then you must refer. Never be afraid to seek counsel, we as parents often tell our children if you need help, no matter what, come to me, in this instance if you need help go to the source. God says
Matthew 11:28-30 King James Version (KJV)
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Proverbs 13:19- A desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, but it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil.
There are two things to remember, as a parent you must have a desire to accomplish this task and you must train your child not to be a fool.
Here are 6 goals that a parent should focus on when training their child.
1. Teach them to seek after their purpose
2. Teach them to accept their purpose
3. Teach them to learn their purpose
4. Teach them to follow their purpose
5. Teach them to live their purpose
6. Teach them to be their purpose
One of the greatest teaching tools available to us as parent is living our life experience before our child. If we are living our lives in our purpose then our child will be able to mimic the tools needed in order to fully walk in their purpose. It is important for you as the parent to understand your purpose as you lead your child to understand and accept theirs.
